We will start our city escape tour in the capital of Finland, Helsinki. Located in the south of the country, it is renowned for being a clean and vibrant city with sumptuous green parks during the summer months, beautiful architecture and brimming with cultural experiences. From museums to theatres and even the opera, there is so much choice to explore in Helsinki. Of course, part of the enjoyment is ensuring you have a good place to come back to where you can switch off and relax. Hotel Haven is one such hotel we would recommend and was even the first hotel to make it into the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group. Small and welcoming, it is the perfect place to rest weary heads. Enjoy breakfasts within one of Helsinki’s oldest stone buildings, the Sunmans building. Lunch and dinner are also served in a stunning location with incredible views of the famous Market Square and the harbour.

The Lilla Roberts hotel is another stylish and elegant property to stay at. It is located within a very fashionable and cosmopolitan area of Helsinki and has delightful and very luxurious rooms to stay in. The Lilla Roberts building is rich in history and makes you feel like you are also taking part of that history.

Klaus K Hotel is a unique stay in Helsinki. Each room is wonderfully cosy, but each has their own Art deco touches. It is almost like staying in an artistic gallery, it is really something to behold. Located right in the middle of the city, it is one of the best places to stay to really immerse yourself within Helsinki. Enjoy eating at the decadent Toscanini or taste a decadently made cocktail in the Klaus K Bar & Lounge to make the most of your escape to the city.

Heading to Sweden now, to its capital of Stockholm. The centre of Sweden’s cultural and economic infrastructure, it is a city that has a certain buzz about it. The Hobo Hotel is a simple yet stylish property which has an element of artistic creativity flowing throughout. The walls are adorned with unusual pieces of art and really encapsulates the creative essence Stockholm as a city encompasses. Ett Hem is another quirky hotel that encompasses the unique style of Stockholm. It is wonderfully small and intimate, with an efficient and friendly concierge that can help you plan literally anything.

Now we will head to Iceland, to the capital of Reykjavik. Overflowing with cultural experiences and fascinating historical museums, this is a city full of wonder. Stay just outside of the city at the incredible Sky Lagoon. A very new hotel having recently opened in 2021, it has infinity edged geothermal pools, offering endless views of the ocean and city. Or stick within the city walls and stay at the impressive Hotel Borg. Located in an extremely central location – it looks over a beautiful park with its neighbours being the Icelandic Parliament building as well as the stunning and historical church, Domkirkjan, the oldest within Iceland.
